My Favourite Albums: Take This To Your Grave

I’m always listening to something, even if I’m not actually listening to anything I’ll be singing it, either in my head or humming it to myself. So I thought I’d do a little thing where I’d talk about some of my favourite albums. This time it’s Take This To Your Grave by Fall Out Boy. We all know Fall Out Boy are my favourite band (even if I’ve been going on about All Time Low a lot more recently.) I  remember when one of my American friends brought this album into school with them like, “you’ve got to hear this album!” That’s where it all began with me and Fall Out Boy! The songs that stuck were Saturday and Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy – that’s how I found them a few years later when the internet became a bit more of a thing. (I make myself sound ancient, I promise this was only 10 years ago…)
When people ask me to choose a favourite Fall Out Boy song I always tell them no, I can pick one song from each album though. But even then I actually struggle, I couldn’t tell you which of these songs was my favourite, although I probably would say Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy, but ask me again in 6 hours and that could have changed completely.
Each song has amazing lyrics so I’ve picked out my favourite lyrics from each for you to read through!
1. Tell That Mick He Just Made My List Of Things To Do Today “Let’s play this game called, ‘When You Catch Fire,’ – I wouldn’t piss to put you out.”
2. Dead On Arrival “The songs you grow to like never stick at first.”
3. Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy “You were the last good thing about this part of town.”
4. Saturday “I read about the afterlife, but I never really lived more than an hour.”
5. Homesick At Space Camp “Tonight the headphones will deliver you the words that I can’t say.”
6. Sending Postcards From A Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here) “I’ve seen sinking ships go down with more grace than you.”
7. Chicago Is So Two Years Ago “There’s a light on in Chicago, and I know I should be home.”
8. The Pros And Cons Of Breathing “My pen is the barrel of the gun, remind me which side you should be on?”
9. Grenade Jumper “I know this is belated, but we love you back.”
10. Calm Before The Storm “You said, between your smiles and regrets, ‘don’t say it’s over.'”
11. Reinventing The Wheel To Run Myself Over “18 going on extinct.”
12. The Patron Saint Of Liars And Fakes “Take this to your grave and I’ll take it to mine.”
