Review: Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara

I’ve spoken before about how I have body hair so pale that it can’t even be described as blonde. It is translucent. Of course, on my arms and legs this is a gift, but when it comes to my face, it’s less so. If I don’t wear eyebrow pencil, or if I don’t wear mascara, it looks as if I don’t have eyebrows or eyelashes. It’s ridiculous. And I hate it.

My mum actually told me about Rimmel’s Volume Colourist Mascara, when she spotted it on an advert in the middle of Madam Secretary or the news or something. It said it has some tinting complex in the formula so that it dyed your eyelashes subtly over time whilst you’re wearing it. I thought this sounded like the answer to all my problems! So I went out and bought it (on offer, fortunately, from Boots) and I’ve been using it for about a week now. I’ve read that it’s meant to take about 2 weeks to work, but that most people saw results much sooner. My lower lashes are definitely a bit darker than normal in the above picture, but I don’t know if that’s just me doing a rubbish job of taking my make up off last night or not.

The mascara looks quite good, although the only problem I’ve found – and I’ve had this with every Rimmel mascara I’ve ever had, even the ones that claimed not to do it – was clumping. And not just in terms of leaving globs on the lashes, but clumping groups of eyelashes together. I wouldn’t mind so much I were seeing solid results in terms of tinting, but I’m not. I’ll stick with it though, in hopes it sorts my lashes out eventually!

Have you used this mascara? What did you make of it? Do I just need to persevere?!
